Line Up

It'll be interesting to see if there's a spike in 2014 birth rates thanks to this year's smash Robin Thicke single, "Blurred Lines".  Thicke has recovered from "The Great Miley Incident of Aught Thirteen" (we kid!), and will shower his D.C.-area fans with some sultry pop this February.  Patriot Center is only so big, and people will undoubtedly be crawling over each other to get a piece of the dapper debonaire.  Use this presale, lest your vision get blurry with rage from missing out.

Another One for the Books

This Friday marks the second show since we officially took over The Lincoln Theatre, and once again, we've got a top-notch UK artist gracing the stage.  Travis will be the first band headlining Lincoln, and we get giddy thinking of all those sounds filling the historic room.  Anytime Fran Healy and co. are in the house, the evening's prospects skyrocket and soar; much like the Scottish troupe's pristene pop.

Make a Wish

In reference to her upcoming album, Wish Bone, Oh Land has remarked on the contrast between the whimsical idea of wishes and the physical, fragile nature of bones.  Sidestepping the obvious philosophy, it shows that the Danish songstress has a unique perspective; one that quite obviously influences her outside-the-box, experimental pop.  Wish upon this rising star at 9:30 Club next Wednesday.

El Ten Eleven @ U Street Music Hall

There are only two guys in El Ten Eleven, but you wouldn't know it when you listen to the beautiful architecture of their instrumental rock.  Half the fun of seeing this duo live is watching their multitasking unfold in front of you, as evidence by this live clip of "My Only Swerving".  Layers upon layers of guitars/basses will dance atop groove-heavy drums at U Street Music Hall this Saturday.

BlastLe1f

LE1F @ U Street Music Hall

What can be said about Manhattan-based rapper Le1f?  A lot.  Thankfully, his bio wraps it up quite nicely: "He’s an out and proud gay MC whose style is rooted in Tunnel bangers from a less socially enlightened era of hip-hop. He’s a producer who’s responsible for the beat behind Das Racist’s “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell”, a fashion icon promoting a “hoodrat Tumblr aesthetic,” and Internet personality on a transcendental quest to become a living digital avatar."  Check his video for "Wut", then check this next level-unique rapper at U Street Music Hall next Wednesday.

BlastJosh

These past few weeks, the immense outpouring of support in regards to Josh has been very touching, and a lot of you have asked if there's anything you can do to help.

Contributions may be made to a scholarship fund established in Josh’s memory at the University of Maryland College Park.  The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student from the Student Entertainment Enterprises (SEE) program.  While at UMCP, Josh participated in the SEE program and served as the president for several years.  Upon graduation, Josh continued as a mentor to other students in the SEE program.
