Be Proactive Foundation
There is a need for proactive approaches to education and skills development for disadvantaged youth. In 2007, one out of seven (16 percent) of people between the ages of 16 and 24 were high school dropouts. The number of dropouts grows by the day, with three out of ten high school students not graduating on time. Dropping out of high school has the impact of a permanent recession for our youth.
Be Proactive Foundation (BPF) provides youth with educational support that will help them excel beyond the classroom walls. We enrich the lives of youth by giving them opportunities to explore and experience things outside of their communities. BPF gives youth the necessary tools to recognize and deal with stress in a positive way. BPF shows them how to begin clearing their own path towards success.
Be Proactive's programs are designed to get youth excited about tomorrow and help them live up to their full potential today. Our comprehensive programs focus on education, mentorship and mental health.
Toys for Tots began in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. The idea came from Bill's wife, Diane.
