Busy Bodies
Even outside of their full time gig as the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, influential hip-hop band The Roots have had a full plate in 2010. Their latest album, Wake Up! (their second release this year), consists of covers of soul music from the 1960s and '70s and is a collaboration with R&B artist John Legend. They've still managed to carve out two nights in their schedule to play 9:30 Club this week. There are only a handful of tickets left for each night, so act fast if you want to see The Roots righteously rock their D.C. fans.

If you hear/see a gigantic explosion in the vicinity of 9:30 Club next Wednesday, don't be afraid. Scratch that. Be very afraid. When intergalactic metal overlords GWAR steer their spaceship into the Club, expect skull-splitting riffs, ear-shattering volume, and enough insanity to spook the bravest men on Earth. Grovel all you like, but none shall be spared from GWAR's crushing blows.

Happy Birthday
For over a decade, musician Laurie Berkner and her band have put on one of the most in-demand live children's shows. Penning multiple albums, books, and videos, Berkner has been credited with changing the children's music genre, writing rock songs that aren't dumbed-down. Now, the band are bringing their Live Birthday Concert to G.W. Lisner Auditorium. The first show is just about sold out, so we've added a second show. Now you've got another chance to see a songwriter that truly has a way with kids.

OPTIONAL: Bring a gift for a child in need by participating in our shoe drive sponsored by UMI shoes. We will be collecting children's shoes (check your closets!) to be donated to Soles4Souls.
