So Good

Among the quintessential songwriters of the last fifty years, Paul Simon has earned endless acclamation for both his solo work and as half of Simon and Garfunkel. Noted for consistently introducing new elements and genres into his songs, Simon's music has aged gracefully over time. Supporting his first new album in five years, So Beautiful Or So What, Paul Simon is making his way to D.A.R. Constitution Hall this May for a night of inspiring music.

Expansive Soundscapes

Known as co-founder of '80s ethereal, neoclassical pop outfit Dead Can Dance, Brendan Perry has stayed busy, lending himself to numerous projects over the years. Recently, he released Ark, his first album in eleven years. Arriving at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue this May, he's joined by Robin Guthrie, who outside of his work in Cocteau Twins has become an admired producer, remixer and film score composer. Don't miss this perfect pairing when they demonstrate the subtle art of atmospheric rock.

Cool School

With their never-ending jams and a light show that can (probably) be seen from outer space, Phish are coming back to Merriweather Post Pavilion for two nights this June. As always, phans also get a free download of the entire show included with each ticket. Get ready for a jam-packed Merriweather weekend filled with remarkable musicians and like-minded fans: the essentials for every great summer.

BlastDecemberists 2

The Decemberists

In contrast to their highly conceptual and prog rock-inspired album, Hazards of Love, indie-folk outfit the Decemberists made a return to Americana sounds with their sixth album, The King Is Dead. Boasting contributions from Peter Buck and Gillian Welch, the country-tinged record is among the most upbeat and accessible of the band's career. Joined by lo-fi dream pop band Beach House, the Decemberists bring their larger-than-life performance back to Merriweather Post Pavilion's stage this summer.

BlastApoc

For Whom the Strings Bow

Unlike other metal bands that just "chugga chugga" away on guitars (which is still rad), Apocalyptica play their manic masterpieces on cellos.  Don't expect a Yo-Yo Ma moment, though.  The volume is loud, the cellos rip, drums crash, and the metal horns are as plentiful as ever...maybe with the pinkies a bit more refined.
