Don't Stop the Party

Are you ready to dance uncontrollably and lose your mind to some insane pop?  That's right: The Black Eyed Peas are coming to town.  For their only east coast date, will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo, and apl.de.ap will turn Merriweather into the Party Pavilion.  Do whatever you need to do (within legal means) to get tickets to this show, because we have a feeling that Saturday's going to be a good good night.

Countdown to Ecstasy

Steely Dan's jazz-fueled rock songs were pretty darn awesome when initially released in the 1970s and early '80s, but much like a fine wine, they've gotten even better with age.  The dynamic duo is heading to Merriweather Post Pavilion with band in tow, set to deliver an evening of eclectic and electrifying music.  Bask in these rock icons' collective glow this Tuesday.

BlastMarlingGood Golly, Ms. Marling

A major player in the current U.K. folk scene (and former original member of Noah and the Whale), Laura Marling has already been nominated twice for the coveted Mercury Music Prize, an impressive achievement for someone who just turned 21. Getting ready to release her third album, A Creature I Don't Know, she is visiting some of the country's oldest and most beautiful buildings, including Sixth & I Historic Synagogue this September. Come hear some beautifully crafted melodies and poetic lyrics from one of Britain's most promising songwriters.

Genuine Class

Describing themselves as "music of the world without being world music", 13-piece collective Pink Martini truly belong in a category of their own. Not only have they combined such diverse styles as Brazilian bossa nova, 1920s pop, classical, and jazz, their music is sung in no less than five different languages. Add some old-fashioned fun to close out the year by joining Pink Martini at The Music Center at Strathmore this December.

New King in Town

Formed only a few years ago, D.C.-based band U.S. Royalty have already gotten widespread attention with recent write-ups in Spin and Esquire. The as-yet-unsigned band just self-released their debut album, Mirrors. After wowing audiences at this year's South by Southwest and Sweetlife Festivals, they're returning home to play the 9:30 Club stage this Friday. Filled with soaring melodies and passion-fueled rock, this show will prove why U.S. Royalty's reign is almost here.
