BlastScratchAcid

The Greatest Gift

Raving, maniacal, unpredictable: all describe the insanity of Scratch Acid.  These seminal noise punks burst onto the scene in 1982, only to fizzle out after a handful of crazy years and limited recorded output.  Vocalist David Yow and bassist David Wm. Sims went to form the equally off-the-wall The Jesus Lizard, and other members Rey Washam and Brett Bradford played with tons of other acts including Rapeman, Big Boys, and Ministry.  Aside from three brief shows in 2006, Scratch Acid have lain dormant since 1987.  Until now.  On tour for a handful of select dates, Scratch Acid will take their D.C. fans on one wild ride back in time, complete with an opening set from recently-reunited Richmond indie punks Kepone.  Join their wonderfully warped journey at 9:30 Club this Friday.

The Boys are Back in Town

Stephen Kellogg has gained a lot of fans thanks to his incredible instrumentation as a solo artist and with his band the Sixers. This year, they've returned with a brand new album, Gift Horse, filled with their signature brand of alt-country, rock and folk styles. Out on the "Boys Only (Plus Girls) Tour", Kellogg is sharing the bill with singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin, who just put out another soulful pop record, Forever If Ever, this fall.  Along with Northern Virginia folk trio Deep River, these two artists will spice up your Saturday night with some great tunes.

Now, the Portland-based indie folk collective are out on their own headlining tour in support of their sophomore album, We Are The Talk. Come hear their beautifully-crafted sounds when Blind Pilot land at 9:30 Club this Sunday.
