Scotland's Greatest Export
Belle and Sebastian were working to perfect their quaint pop sound when a lot of today's top indie songwriters were mere lads and lasses. Before returning to the studio in 2014, the band will team up with fellow veterans Yo La Tengo for a Stateside tour. Don't let their years in the game fool you; when both of these bands take the Merriweather stage on Friday, July 12, you'll see that they can give any other group out there a run for their money.

Definitively D.C.
If you were to take a cue from the Reading Rainbow intro and jump into a music history book of Washington, D.C. over the last 30+ years, you'd land at the upcoming DC Funk-Punk Throwback Jam. One one hand, you've got the grooves of D.C.'s finest go-go and funk. On the other hand, you've got the manic energy and attitude of bands that have made D.C. a punk mecca. Throw in special guest appearances, host Henry Rollins, and more, and you've got the celebration of who and what has made D.C. one of the most unique music cities around.

Party with Pat
Pat Green has a reputation for playing by his own rules when it comes to his career as a country singer, but he can certainly be relied on for many things. For one, he'll rep Texas as long as he's on this Earth. For another, whether he's playing in the largest enormodome in the world or in a backwoods shack, he's going to deliver a country party that is second to none. Expect nothing less when he plays 9:30 Club next Wednesday.

Willy Moon @ U Street Music Hall
Aside from being an incredibly dapper man (just look at that photo to the right!), Willy Moon is a musical mad scientist. Imagine a dusty 1950s soul record playing, but instead of standard drums, there are hip-hop beats, samples, and scratches inserted for percussion. Then, add Moon's polished voice over top to complete the formula, and voila! You can also click on the below link to see and hear the master in action. After that, see and hear Mr. Moon's grand experiments come to life at U Street Music Hall this Friday.
